This week, our guest on the blog is Jess, an addicted quilter from Paper Pieces.
Paper Pieces, located in the very artistic and creative city of Paducah, Kentucky, has a long history of success at helping others make quilts of their own. They have quilt patterns that range in difficulty from beginner to advanced, with an extensive selection of designs, from traditional to contemporary, as well as an endless variety of styles to assist you in creating your own quilted masterpiece.
And today, we have the pleasure of having Jess on our blog to share with us, her favorite technique EPP (English Paper Piecing) from a pattern in Simply Moderne!
Learn how to win a complete piece pack at the end of the post!
The pattern Room for Squares in Simply Modern Issue No. 9 has so much potential! Here at Paper Pieces we love the creative elements that Brigitte Heitland of Zen Chic designed within this quilt. Possibilities and portability is the key to any English Paper Piecing project!
Brigitte’s original design, using 28 blocks, creates a King size quilt but we saw the opportunity for a crib size! By using just 3 of these 12” Blocks - you can create a modern crib quilt for that special baby in your life!

We also saw the strength in this block to stand alone, so we made a single block and framed it in a classic white picture frame. This version uses Brigitte’s line of Zen Chic for Moda, Flow.
