Reiko Kato is one of the most prolific, Japanese quilters and teachers of our time. She discovered heirloom quilts during her early trips to the United States, at a time when quilts from the US were very popular in Japan. Reiko was immediately hooked, meticulously studying the different blocks and patterns assembled together by hand.
Out of these stories, Reiko imagined new ones. Known for her Sunbonnet Sue character, she has created an entire patchwork universe for this captivating personality and her friends. Her books have been published in numerous languages and often at the heart of each one is her faithful companion. Reiko’s hand appliqué and embroidery work is of exceptional craftsmanship, designing intricate miniature scenes that have won the hearts of quilters around the globe!
