As a third-generation seamstress and quilter, Dawn’s passion for quilts began as a child. Although she did not know her great-grandmother, she passed on part of her inheritance through the quilts she left behind. Dawn’s grandmother used these quilts as testimony of life in the past. She taught Dawn the value of each piece of fabric, including burlap bags that were used to transport food, which she treasured for future works. It is this family heritage that has made Dawn the primitive folk artist she is today. The appliqué and quilting by hand are fundamental elements of her work. As owner of her own design company, Linen Closet Design, Dawn’s memories & traditions continue to inspire her work daily, both technically and artistically.
