Quiltmania is excited to present Houghton Mill, the first in a new series of patterns by Petra Prins.
This quilt was inspired by her love of 17th & 18th century “chintz” fabrics from India which influence her own fabric line, along with immense love of medallion style quilts. Simply described, a medallion quilt has a central theme surrounded by multiple borders. The center and borders could be pieced, appliquéd, or embroidered, in any combination.
Most Dutch and English quilts during the late 18th & early 19th century were medallion. Follow Petra’s step-by-step instructions to create your own treasure.
